Letter from Naazish Khan in Mumbai

Dear All,
AOA
I was shocked and surprised to know that I have so many relatives from my father's side all over the world. Yesterday when I read the mails and the blog site it was too much to comprehend, but it is slowly sinking in.

BTW, Happy birthday to Saadia, whom I have met when Mujahid Bhai and his wife visited us in Bombay after his visit to Egypt. Saadia was probably four five years old then. Also Aasim dropped in some 5 years ago when he was in India for a conference. I was surprised to see he had grown a beard, and now so has Nadeem- so it appears there is a strong trend towards Islamisation and seeking ones roots.
My husband, Syed Nusrat Shah, is a practising lawyer at Bombay High Court, and a honorary Prof. of Law at Govt. Law College, Mumbai, and is usually seen in his black coat, except on holidays and in the tennis court, when he dons the garb you see him in. I run my own pre-school and Samaa is presently studying in Xaviers College. Tariq Bhai has two kids- daughter Sadia is in 8th Std, and son Aly is in the 5th Std. His wife is called Dilshaad.

Would you know, it is the first time I discovered that Baji was a first cousin to my father and the rest of the Chachas.

So Hi everybody, and hopefully slowly I 'll get to know all of you.

Naazish

Talent Abounds in Our Kunba

No this is not Ashwarya Rai- but this is our own, yes very own, Aysha Rai (Jacksonville Waali). For this shot, if you could call it that, Shahrukh went on three months of very active weight training. As for the kuRRi- the less said the better. Incidentally, this was the first punjabi movie in which both starred. For more photos, check out Aysha Rai's blog- link on the left.

Maryam, Amna, Rakshi and Habib- The Kunba Down Under. Imagine having never met these kids. Some day, inshaAllah, there would be a family good together. But atleast the dots are beginning to be connected.

The Authors of the Kunba Blog theme song (Tarana may be too strong a word). But their song Deewanay sums up the spirit behind this blog very well. Check out the theme song in the link section.

Aysha Taufiq- Dangerous with Photography Software

Danger comes in many guises. This one is not even disguised. Don't be fooled by the charming (specially manufactured for the camera) smile. I have never been so defaced in photographs as was recently done by her. Yes she is our own Aysha Taufiq who can run amok with her photography software. Expect much action on her blog to (link provided on the left). She seems like a gifted blogger to me.

You would think it would be the kids who would be difficult to keep engaged but Aysha kept fidgeting and until Salik promised a scoop of chocolate ice cream, she kept looking sideways.

Nizam Mamu and Child Aid in Karachi

Nizam mamu is a relentless warrior when it comes to the fight against pediatric cancer. He is an icon for our family, someone who has been a father figure to all of us. His love is not just limited to our family but spreads to all the children who come under his care. His photo is at the top. In the next photo, in a white shalwar kameez is Syed Samad, champa khala's son and a gastroenterologist. He was in Pakistan in December 2005. The last two photos are my favorite- a child before/during therapy and she after curative treatment for lymphoma (cancer of lymphocytes). We are now helping Nizam mamu set up a state of the art laboratory in Karachi at the CAA bone marrow transplantation unit. This laboratory would be the first of it's type and help provide diagnosis at the genetic level. Each one of us can move a mountain if we act determined. Posted by Picasa
